〔必要な〕 necessary; 〔避けがたい〕 unavoidable; inevitable; not to be avoided [helped]; beyond one's control; 〔義務的な〕 obligatory; 〔強制された〕 compelling; compulsory; pressing.

●やむをえないこととあきらめる resign oneself [bow] to the inevitable

・やむをえない事情で due [owing] to circumstances beyond one's control; owing to [through] unavoidable circumstances

・やむをえない事情で集まりには出席できなかった. Unavoidable circumstances caused me to miss the meeting.

・やむをえない場合は when circumstances compel [require] it; in an unavoidable case; in case of need; if necessary

・やむをえない理由 a compelling reason.

●あれはやむをえない選択でした. It was an unavoidable choice.
